CD Reviews

Inolvidable / Unforgettable Tito Rodriquez Deserves Better
Penumbra | Atlanta, GA USA | 03/08/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Tito Rodriquez was a great musician, but this particular CD isn't a good choice because the sound seems muddy or fuzzy. At one point, the sound actually seems to receed in the middle of a song, and later it comes back to full volume. I wish I had bought another CD featured on Amazon, "Las 32 Mas Grandes de Tito Rodríguez," on which the music has been remastered from the original recordings. A thousand stars for Tito Rodriguez, but only three stars for this poor copy."
Beautiful boleros
B. London | Chicago | 06/21/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This compilation by Sony Discos is a double whammy winner. For one-it provides not just Spanish but English liner notes. Which are swell because for us Gringos we can finally learn some personal history about one of Latin music's most talented and interesting stars. Most importantly, the sound quality is sensational as Tito sings deeply emotional and touching songs of love and loss, beautifully as always-but with accompanyment equal to the marvelous Sinatra albums with Axel Stordahl and Nelson Riddle. Just tremendously lush and lovely yet stirring and macho."
A beautiful but far-too -brief collection.

"Tito Rodriguez was, is and will always be one of the bolero's greatest interpreters and this CD does a very fine job at bringing many of his best songs together on one disc. I must argue, however, that there was room for more songs. This is still a CD you'll want to buy and it has very good liner notes also. Listen to it just once and you'll be convinced of what a great singer Tito was."
