This is the best CD remastering job yet...buy this now!!!

"If you're a diehard Thin Lizzy/Phil Lynott fan who's been waiting for the ultimate CD remastering of the Thin Lizzy classics, this is the compilation to get. Spend the money, or try to find it used. I've been listening to this band and some of these tracks for over thirty years, and after listening to this remastering job, it's almost like I'm hearing some of these tracks for the first time. The remastering engineer should get a Grammy nomination. I'm not exaggerating...buy this now, end of story."

"If you want to, have to, neeed to know all things Thin Lizzy, then this is the compilation for you!!! Unlike its american counterparts, "Greatest Hits" is a truly career spannig compilation of...Thin Lizzy...? Yes, and no. It includes all the Thin Lizzy material that you might want, but it is more than a Thin Lizzy compilation...It is a Phil Lynott anthology. Picture Jimmy Hendrix being born in Ireland and playing bass instead of guitar...and you might have some idea of what Phil was all about.

Like Jimmy's own band, Thin Lizzy started as a power trio, with Phil handling bass and vocals, Brian Downey on drums and Eric Bell on guitar. This lineup was shortlived and, for the most part, unsuccesful. But then, Lizzy reinvented themselves: they added TWO lead guitar players, who would essentially create the dual, dueling guitar attack thas was to become the standard for countless hard rock/heavy metal bands to come. The first guitar duo was formed by Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham (the latter, along with founders Lynott and Downey, would remain in the band until the end), and this is still considered by most fans and critics to be Lizzy's most prolific lineup.

Many guitar players would come and go into the band over the years to complement the Lynott-Downey-Gorham axis, including Gary Moore, Snowy White and John Sykes, each bringing something of their own, but without altering the essential chemistry of the band, which rested mostly upon Phil's inspired, working class songwriting and delivery. So yes, this compilation encompasses all of those different incarnations of the band and the music that they made, but it also includes some of Phil's solo work and collaborations, making it a true Phil Lynott retrospective.

After all, Phil WAS Thin Lizzy, so it is only fitting that this compilation includes some of his work outside of the band, even if some of it might not appeal to hard rock fans. Indeed, tunes like "Yellow Pearl", "Dear miss lonely hearts" and "King's Call" might raise an eyebrow or two, but songs such as "Out in the fields" and "Parisienne Walkways" (both being collaborations with Gary Moore, and some of Phil's last recordings) are welcome additions.

From Lizzy's material, you get all the classics, including "Black Rose" (sorry, Gary Moore freaks, not my fav tune...), "Jailbreak", "Waiting for an Alibi", "Rosalie", and tracks from later Lizzy albums, such as "trouble boys", "Cold Sweat", "Hollywood (Down on your luck)", "Sun goes down", "Renegade", "Thunder & Lightning", etc. This one has EVERYTHING!!!

Now, one last thing: if you are looking just for a taste of Lizzy, I recommend you to stick with the single disc "Dedication". On the other hand, if you are already familiar with Lizzy's (and Phil's) work and want to have the best of it, this compilation is clearly the way to go!!! The choice is yours, but you CAN'T POSSIBLY go wrong with this one."
THE BEST THIN LIZZY EVER

"This is the best greatest hits cd ever put together by thin lizzy. It includes the early hits like the rocker , and whiskey in a jar. Has some great songs on it from the Black rose cd with Gary moore on guitar. the only problem I had with this cd is i can't believe they put the short version of the rocker on it, not the long version that was on the Dedication cd. You miss out on the terrific guitar solo by Eric Bell.

But beggars can't be choosers. Over all this is the best of them all , so don't miss out on this one."
