Awesome hard-rocking live Kinks

"The Kinks are full of grit and dark energy on this awesome live disc. Ray and Dave are in fine voice and the band rocks out fast and loud, never letting the momentum flag.

Some fans lament the lack of staple hits like "All Day and All of the Night" and "You Really Got Me." Well, those songs are on practically every Kinks live album already. Do we really need live version no. 4,867 of "All Day" when we can have lesser-known gems like "Art Lover," "Lost and Found," and "Cliches of the World" instead? (I would have even removed the studio-recorded title track, which is fun but no great shakes, in favor of Dave's fiery "Guilty" or the "Gallon of Gas Blues/Welcome to Sleazy Town" medley they played on this tour.)

Any fan of this era of the Kinks' career owes it to themselves to check out "Live: The Road.""

"short track listing - but great sound quality and good track selection - there are some real gems here - "art lover", "come dancing", "apeman" are the highlights
