Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered two-fer featuring a pair of albums from the R&B vocal quartet originally issued on the Casablanca Records label: Tonight (1981) and One More Mountain (1982). The Four Tops created their distinctive musical profile with smash hits on Motown, in the mid-'60s, before moving to ABC in the early '70s and enjoying continued success until the world of Soul met with competition from the Disco era. When the Four Tops signed with Casablanca Records, the combined resources of soulful performances and contemporary marketing took them back to the top of the charts with the lilting 'When She Was My Girl', followed by further hits 'Don't Walk Away' and 'Tonight I'm Gonna Love You All Over' (all of which are included here). Shout. 2009.

CD Reviews

Two great albums.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's great to see these full albums being released on CD. Although various tracks have appeared on greatest hits compilations and box sets, for your money you should hear all of these tracks. Two solid albums produced in the early eighties, these put the Tops back on the charts. The most well known songs will be "When She Was My Girl," "Tonight I'm Gonna Love You All Over," and "All I Do," a cover of the Stevie Wonder track. However, there are more great tracks here, and all are testaments to the Tops amazing harmony and vocal ability. Check out the track "Nobody's Gonna Love You Like I Do," written by Levi Stubbs, where by the end he is getting DOWN, yelling with all of his might."
