The minute the CD started I knew this was a transfer from a good LP/record (you could here the slight, typical rumble.) Maestro van Beinum was a great conductor and was recorded beautifully, even in mono. His 'Romeo' is great, no doubt, but: why invest in a CD of warhorses available in much better releases, with only 39 minutes of music, a coupling of Franacesca(sic) by the yuky-sounding 1950s Paris Conservatoire, obviously transfered from a record!? I am writing this to warn Amazon's customers and in the hope that we can bring these (insulting) corporations to bankrupcy by not buying anything from them." |
