CD Reviews

One More Precious Effort by Tania
Papetti | Mexico City | 05/31/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow, every single album ever recorded by Tania is a Superb one, and this one is no exception; recorded in 1974 and released in 1975 (over 31 years ago !!! and it stills sound super fresh !!! because timeless jewels like this one don't follow any pop formulas that age almost instantly).

This album immediately reminded me of that classic song by Carlos Lyra (Influencia do Jazz),because Tania has that natural and effortless ability to translate several Samba songs into Brazilian Jazz like she did here.

This CD is just a little over 44 minutes long, but is incredibly enjoyable; Tania's funky swing is present in every cut; that incredible Fender piano and her (claim-to-fame) scatting and whistling at unison with her piano, are also showcased.

Many of these cuts were written by other great Brazilian songwriters like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, Jorge Ben, Vinicius de Moraes, Dorival Caymmi, Joao Donato, Chico Buarque etc. etc., but one of the highlights here is a song co-written by Tania "A Cruz", wow!! this CD does not stop amazing me.

So, if you are a Tania's fan, or if you just love Jazz or Brazilian Jazz, you WILL NOT go wrong with this amazing CD."
