Synopsis

In 2001, Tammy Cochran looked like Nashville's brightest new light. Wedding a strikingly powerful voice to first-rate material ("Angels in Waiting," which she wrote about her late brothers), Cochran found Top 10 success, a slot on a George Strait tour, and stellar reviews. But then it all began to fall apart. "Life Happened," a killer tune about high-school dreams and the dreariness of reality, failed to catch fire in 2002. And then she pretty much disappeared. Now the Ohioan returns with a low-key singer-songwriterish album, on which she wrote or cowrote 11 of the 12 cuts, most of which revolve around romance in all its stages. The album hits its stride with "Nobody's Home," a Lorrie Morganish, woman-to-woman ballad of domestic yearning, and with the title tune, a quasi-gospel walk on the road back from hell. But the material suffers a certain sameness, and the breakout rhythm numbers--where's the righteous anger on "As Soon as I'm Over You?"--play it too safe. Cochran can make a comeback, but Where I Am isn't particularly where she needs to be. --Alanna Nash

"This Cd could make Tammy Cochran a country music star again. Her voice is tender with these songs. Sadly country radio doesnt play her anymore.

She really rocks with the title song, my personal favorite is " The Ride Of Your Life.""

"Even though I will always remember her song tribute to her two brothers that passed on, I have the cd but don't remember the exact title without the cd in front of me...I think it is "Angels in Waiting"? Anyway she still has a pretty voice on this album and the hit song, which is what the title of the album is after is AWESOME and the most memorable for me. It is a catchy tune with a good meaning. All of the songs on the cd she really put her blood, sweat and tears into. It is definately from the heart. I am just so glad she found a new WONDERFUL record label that continues to bring out her beautiful voice in the best possible way. I like it when country artists can put themselves into the music and I love it when they write or co-write the songs, you can tell. Keep up the good work Tammy!"
