Synopsis

Album Description
2008 five track CD EP. Tame Impala make Psychedelic hypno-groove melodic Rock music. It's intended for moving one's body to, and it's intended for keeping still and observing other forms of movement. It's bombastic but it's swirling, think of the shoulder bones of a giant striding feline creature through some kind of tunnel. The Tame Impala sound is one equally informed by The Beatles as it is beat poetry, by Turkish Prog as it is by Turkish delight, and by English folk as much as homeless folk, and it's a breathe of fresh air that reeks of all of these at times and none at others. Modular.

CD Reviews

Tame Impala has that whole hippie-retro thing going
Lyrax Acrux | Philadelphia | 05/27/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I recently received this EP and have been listening to it in my car to and from work. Tame Impala really has a retro, hippie, modern-psychedelic sound. The songs are well written and quite listenable. My only complaint is that there are only 5 songs on the CD. Can't wait to hear a full length album from these guys."
5 excellent psych-rock songs, marred only by a bad recording
Jasmol | San Diego, CA United States | 05/06/2010

"Sounding a bit like John Lennon fronting for Cream, this is a solid EP where every single song is a gem. The melodies and hooks are all solid, and the heavy fuzzboxed guitar. Though they're not reinventing the genre or breaking new ground, still manages to sound fresh.

My only complaint is the recording. Doesn't sound too bad on a car stereo or portable, but sounds terrible on a high-end audio system (my friend commented that it sounded like "it was recorded over a telephone.") Hopefully the full-length will address that issue."
