CD Reviews

What a waste of money
John Herrmann | Rancho Santa Fe, CA USA | 11/13/2001

"I thought this would be an interesting interview disc, but how wrong I was. It was a disorganized mess with very little context. I got the impression that it was slapped together so that someone could make some quick money. After one full listen I realized what a waste of money this really was. If you like Sting, as I do, you will be very disappointed with this disc."
Absolute waste of money!

"I bought this cd just recently and I have to say I was very disappointed. Absolute Sting? Absolute joke I think is a better description. On the front cover it claims to be ?The Unauthorised Interview? this is absolute nonsense! This isn?t an interview at all, what it is ? is 30 minutes of snippets from past interviews and shows that Sting has appeared on, most of the content is taken from the VH1 ?Behind The Music? show - which incidentally you can watch for FREE on VH1 next time its aired. You won?t learn anything here that you don?t already know and probably won?t hear anything you haven?t already heard. In my opinion there is nothing here for serious Sting fans. Quite frankly I could have put a much better cd together using the footage I have on video.
Paul.

"This is purported to be an "interview cd". Unless the definition of "interview" has drastically changed (my Webster's states "a meeting in which a person is asked about personal views, etc, as by a reporter"), this cd doesn't fit the bill. There are lots of snippets of interviews - you may have heard most before - with no idea as to the context the statement is given. Some I recognized simply because I had just recently seen him on VH1. Some I know I heard before but don't know when or where I had heard it. WIthout the proper context of the statements, it's very difficult to discern what Sting is discussing at any given time. And because it is just snippets and has no chronology or reason, it becomes frustrating when you're trying to figure out "Is he talking about the rainforest? His first wife? His pet goldfish?"
If you are an absolute Sting fanatic and must simply have everything he has recorded, by all means buy it and enjoy it.
If you're not, you will not be happy with this cd."
