Excellent solo Steve Lacy

"Steve Lacy plays Thelonius Monk on Soprano Saxophone.Lacy was a master at playing the Saxophone and on this cd he is in the best form I've ever heared.I think it would be very hard to interpret music which is usually played by a four piece group and make it interesting,but Lacy has much success on this cd.Of course Lacy has always been a member of the so called jazz Avant Garde so you can imagine the kind of sounds you'll hear on this disc.The amazing thing is that it is profoundly beautiful and moving music.The Critics of the Penguin Guide to jazz have given this Disc the highest rating:four stars.And it deserves the rating.Surely one of Steve Lacy's greatest recordings."
