Eric McCalla | Denver, COLORADO | 01/17/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Vivaldi Stabat Mater on this Harmonia Mundi recording was my introduction to the wondrous voice of countertenor Andreas Scholl. I'm no classical or opera expert, but to me this is the finest performance of the work I have ever heard. The cantata OMAI CESSATE is also quite wonderful. I listen to it frequently, and I'm no less than amazed and awed at the power of Scholl's expressiveness and attention to the intent of the words. Chiara Banchini and Ensemble 415 play most beautifully and round out an exceptional production. The Baroque period makes up the greatest part of my classical library, and with good reason when you can enjoy performances like this one again and again!Superb!!"
