Where are the Hip Hop Heads?
Jeffrey A. Lunt | 06/25/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Good grief...why is the world sleeping on this joint? This gangsta rap collective, the Soul Assassins, have been bridging the gap between the East and the West Coasts since 1997...yet nobody seems to care about this album!

Where are the Hip Hop Heads these days? Did they all grow up?

The Soul Assassins are back with "Intermission," their third album. DJ Muggs is the Soul Controller, leading an ARMY of gangsta rap legends and talents. These include, Bun B, RZA, B Real, Alchemist, Chance Infinite, Planet Asia, and many, many more. (Sadly, GZA is absent.)

Each track is blistering. Muggs and crew have not gone soft on us. This is hard-hitting gangsta rap. (And believe me: gangsta rap is still relevent.) Eminem is tearing up the charts with "Relapse" but "Intermission" is on the fringes of relevance.

The tracks "Intermission," "Meet Your Maker," "Good Evening Los Angeles," "Champions [Remix]," and "Match Box" are the standout tracks. No momment is wasted however; nothing is filler.

Do your community a favor and bump "Intermission" through your speakerboxes.

This is hip hop at its finest.

Peace."
Different but still hot!

"i am a big fan of dj muggs and his soul assassins imprint so i was expectin this to sound a lil more grimy. i was surprised how light some of the production is but after a few listens it is pretty dope. this cd has many different sounds. there are some grimy beats on here but just as not as many as i expected it sounds completly different than the "vs" lps from gza, sick jacken, and planet asia. it still has enough hot tracks to give it a solid four because hey, in this day of wack hip hop anything from the real hip hop pioneers is refreshing. go get this if you are a true hip hop fan you wont be disappointed."
