CD ReviewsGood compilation of some of Ravel's hard-to-find pieces Eric Brinkmann | Palo Alto, CA United States | 06/30/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "The two major works on this album, the sonata and the chansons are examples of Ravel's late style, in which he left behind impressionism and created a more linear, dissonant style. The recording of the sonata is especailly beautiful. The string players get a sumptuous sound, creating a real atmosphere, even though there are only two players. The piano music in between is nice for collectors, too. The 5-hand "Frontispiece" is especially impressive."
