"This is a "must have" for any real country music lover. Skip Ewing known perhaps more for his song writing for others, shines also as a singer and instrumentalist. This album will tear your heart to pieces. If you enjoy well written, well played, well sung ballads then this is the album. Skip has it all, and should be a household name, how he isn't, makes one wonder after listening to his body of work. This album contains 7 classic ballads, 2 uptempo songs and 1 mid tempo work. The ballads mainly deal with loves lost or gone wrong, however the songs "Dad" and "The Gospel According To Luke" take the listener from wallowing in past romantic relationships to thoughts of parental love and religous wondering. While Skip's other albums are also great works of art, this is the best. His skill as a songwriter truly shines on this album, his style of writing is truly unique, worth having just to listen to the arrangement of words. Truly, a must have."
"WICKED GOOD" (as we say here in Maine)

"I have two favorite all-time modern country and western albums. THIS is one of them. (I'll send you to the other one in a moment.)

You know how it is when you find one of those albums, the kind where every song on it is "better than the last one"? Well, this is certainly at the top of that kind of list. I will do something here that I rarely do...that is list songs and comments. It takes something special for me to do this.

1 BURNIN' A HOLE IN MY HEART....a great up-tempo song about love

2 A LIGHTER SHADE OF BLUE....thoughtful, loving song of loss

3 I DON'T HAVE FAR TO FALL....a great wonderfully crafted love song

4 AUTUMN'S NOT THAT COLD....another song about bittersweet love

5 THE COAST OF COLORADO....awesome beautiful love song about faithfullness

6 YOUR MEMORY WINS AGAIN....another bittersweet love song

7 DAD....one of the most sentimental, loving, songs I've ever heard by anyone. If this song does not fill your heart, you don't have one.

8 DON'T MIND IF I DO....clever, great song

9 THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE....another awesome, sentimental, thoughtful, loving, song. Again, if you are not deeply moved by this song, you do not have a heart, nor do you care about those with less than you.

10 STILL UNDER THE WEATHER....another wonderful song about lost love.

Skip Ewing is one of those very rare people who's ability to sing or deliver a song is just magic and pure love. There are truly few people who can do this. I do not for the life of me understand his "disappearance" from the music scene, and I for one can tell you that he is "VERY greatly missed".

Do yourself a very great favor, and locate and pick up a copy of this album before it is completely unavailable at all....you will NEVER be sorry.

Now, for the second of these albums, do a search for "In This Live" by Colin Raye, and read my review of this album also.

Happy listening in both cases. ~operabruin"
One of the best country artists of the 90's

"Skip Ewing is a great song writer and artist, his music from the 90's is still good today. It is a shame that he's not still making new stuff for his many fans, and that his existing stuff is no longer being made by the record labels."
