"Even if you've already established a collection of Shirley Bassey recordings (or you're just starting one), this CD will be a wise purchase. Mainly concentrating on her hit singles from the 1960s, this album has all the regular Bassey suspects like "Big Spender", "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever", "This is My Life" and "Never, Never, Never".

One of the rarities which makes this disc very special for collectors is the inclusion of her 1962 cover single of "Far Away", a lovely ballad from composer Lionel Bart's acclaimed musical of the period entitled BLITZ!. Originally sung by Grazina Frame in the show, Ms Bassey really shines with this haunting wartime love ballad. It finds an ideal companion with "As Long As He Needs Me", the soulful 11 o'clock number from Lionel Bart's previous major musical, OLIVER!.
