Terrific cd. John McCullum has an ego bigger than all outdoors. Happily, his voice is even bigger.

John Cullum received his first Tony Award (best actor in a Musical) for his portrayal of Virginia farmer and father Charlie Anderson. Cullum made his Broadway debut as one of the knights, and understudy to Richard Burton and Roddy McDowell, in the original production of CAMELOT, and later played Laertes to Burton's HAMLET in the 1964 Broadway production directed by Sir John Guilgud. His first starring role on Broadway was in ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER (Tony nomination and Theatre World award), in which he introduced the famous title song. He received his second Tony for playing maniacal theater producer Oscar Jaffee in Hal Prince's ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. Best known to the public in later years for his roles on TV (bar owner Holling in NORTHERN EXPOSURE, Anthony Edwards' father on E.R. and most recently an attorney/judge on LAW AND ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, he continues to appear regularly on stage. He earned Tony nominations in his 70s for his Caldwell B. Cladwell in URINETOWN and playing Audra McDonald's father in the revival of of 110 IN THE SHADE. But SHENANDOAH is still the musical with which he is most strongly associated.

"I got this as a gift for my mom and she said she listened to it about 3 times the day she got it. Fast delivery, great product."

"This CD is great. John Collum is a great actor and singer. As the other reviewers have said it about a family during the Civil War who are drawn into the fighting. The music is wonderful and tells the story. I like THE PICKERS ARE COMING which I find very poignant because the Father sees that his Daughter will be getting married soon. This is a situation that parents have to face in all walks of life as their children leave home. Get this CD, and you will love it."
