CD Reviews

The Perfect CD to Summarize their Past Success!
Ryan | Grayslake, IL | 04/18/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am a huge fan of Sentenced, and when I bought Story: A Recollection, I realized that it sums up their past success perfectly. The album contains songs off all their CDs from "Shadows of the Past" to "Down". When you listen to this CD, you get a taste of all their past albums. The songs off "Shadows of the Past" are great death metal, the tracks from "North From Here" are black metal, etc. It is definitely a great CD. I see it more as a compilation CD than a greatest hits. Definitely worth the money if you're a Sentenced fan."
A savage trip through Sentenced's past

"As the proud owner of 4 Sentenced's albums, I unfortunatly rate this one as 4th. However, this is still a good album, just not on the same level as Down, Frozen, and Crimson. That is only my opinion, though, because I am not extremely fond of deathy vocals. If you are a big death metal fan and are looking for a taste of Sentenced's earlier work, this is an excellent buy. But if you are looking for a follow up to any of their work with Ville Laihiala (the vocalist on the three aforementioned albums), this is not the album to purchase."
A collection of songs from the early days of Sentenced.

"Sentenced is a band that has grown out of the darker and heavier brutal death metal scene to a much more melodic band with widespread appeal, largely due to their new vocalist Ville Laihiala. This has worked well for the band, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any good songs in their old material. Amok was a good album, but lacked mainstream appeal. Much of their older stuff that is good is on this CD. If you want to check out some classic Sentenced without buying all their old albums, this release will be perfect for you. Buy it if you can find it."
