CD Reviews

The best Pye collection...
Mathew R. Buster | Pacific Grove, CA | 09/07/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This stands out as the most thorough anthology for The Searchers Pye Records output. It contains all 16 singles (both A & B sides) they released for Pye from 1963-1967, plus several tracks taken from their 5 Pye albums. This is in fact the only collection that contains the song Lovers (B-side to Popcorn Double Feature). All tracks are in mono, which was the common standard of the time.

Please read my review of The Searchers: The Definitive Pye Collection for a complete comparison of the two collections. All and all, there isn't a huge difference between the two. The Definitive Pye Collection bounces between stereo and mono mixes and has a couple extra tracks from The Searchers later career that this compilation does not have.

With many of The Searchers Castle reissues disappearing, if you can find this for under $30, definitely snatch it up."
