Synopsis

Product Description
Her fourth full-length is a body of fourteen songs that traverse a spectrum of charged emotions from yearning and grief to resignation and acceptance. Will Oldham contributes vocals on the record's four duets. Recorded by Steve Albini. "This deceptively spare opus has an unnerving habit of lulling listeners into sweet sonic submission before plunging in for the pitiless rock 'n' roll kill" - Bust Magazine. "...pure grunge explosions, with crashing drums and guitars engulfed in layers of feedback" - Philadelphia Enquirer.

CD Reviews

Best Music of the Year
L.Grasslands | 10/15/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow! What a record, I'm a huge fan of her work, and really loved Kidnapped, but I was really stunned by this record, I guess I always knew she could come up with such an awesome collection of songs, and here it is. It's the record Cat Power and PJ Harvey should be making.

Kiss with Will Oldham is transcendent, and the video for Kiss is one of the best music videos I've seen in years, It's practically high art. Nevada, Dinosaur Egg, Yummy, and Fishes And Honey are just a few of the many highlights. It such a beautiful, bleak and quirky album. The 2007 musically highpoint.

Dark, cathartic, and artistic
S. Trouvere | St. Louis, MO | 12/15/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Scout Niblett's "This Fool..." is minimalist, forceful and contains dark songs punctuated by cathartic eruptions. (Steve Albini is the producer.) The arrangements and melodies are spare and odd, but everything hangs together well. It's not party music, but it's worth listening to with the lights off. "Dinosaur Egg" is the sole glimpse of whimsy, and despite the heavy treatment, it is hilarious."
