Synopsis

Album Description
This is Scott Henderson?s first live recording and captures his critically acclaimed guitar ability as it was showcase at an LA club over several nights during 2004. Guitar fans have enjoyed hearing Scott work with Jean Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul and power fusion trio " Henderson, Smith and Wooten" with Steve Smith and Victor Wooten. In addition, Scott has churned out an incredible body of work stemming from his other career as founding member of Tribal Tech and as a solo artist, both of which he has toured extensively to support.

"I've been a fan of Scott Henderson since I saw him with Chick Corea in the late '80s. I especially like his forays into funk and blues with Dog Party and Tore Down House.

I'm also a huge fan of live recordings, so when I ordered this CD, I was looking forward to hearing some of the blues material in a raw non-studio environment. Oops...

While the playing on this CD is world-class (guitar and otherwise), I'm sort of disappointed with the guitar tones. Throughout the CD Henderson employs (IMHO) an overly processed guitar tone, smothered in a layer of digital gauze (chorus, delay, etc.). I think it's great to use these effects for contrasting tonal textures, but if you never turn them off where is the contrast?

In this instance, the guitar sounds LESS processed on the original studio recordings. (!?!)

Henderson's guitar is a lean, mean, fighting machine. I would love to hear him "take off the gloves" and lay into some bare-knuckled blues and funk.

I know, some people will complain about anything...

Just an observation."

"WOW! Scott Henderson is got to be one of the most versatile guitar players/musicians on the scene today. From Tribal Tech, to the spontanious jams he does with many artist, to his solo stuff, he is always in the pocket, and sometimes a little out of the pocket, but it works every time. This 2 cd set is packed with great music, from Scott's blues days to his jazz/rock fusion days. Its all here and LIVE."
