Glorious performances

"This is a wonderful album. The two Troesters play with technical brilliance, but the technique is so good it sounds like they could play in their sleep. What comes across is their superb communication with each other and their feeling for the music. The guitar is a perfect support for the virtuoso mandolin. I don't know of another performance of Scarlatti I like so well. A short rant : recording techniques make technically perfect performances possible, but technical perfection on this disc, although arguably present, takes a back seat to the sound of real people playing together."
