Aaarrgghhh! Get ready for boarding- the finest Pirate Metal
David J Newman | West Hartford, CT United States | 11/23/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Mateys, I be no pirate myself. But after hearing Blazon Stone and subsequent Running Wild releases, I just wanted to grab me cutlass, eyepatch, and talking parrot and go on a swashbuckling adventure! One can taste the salty sea air, feel the convulsions of a wooden ship deck in high waves, and relish the plunder of gold and booty by simply spinning this CD! Very imaginative, descriptive lyrics, rocket drumming, blazing guitar riffs, and searing vocals make Blazon Stone a must-have metal album. You must own this album, no doubt! These guys are for real! I'm surprised that they aren't HUGE. Maybe over in Europe? Riff after glorious riff, song after memorable song, Running Wild won me over the moment they first boarded my CD player. Soccer-holler choruses! Pirate Metal! I hope they come to the US, specifically Hartford, Connecticut to pillage and lay waste to a land that has spawned some of THE WORST music (metal and non-metal) in decades! Let me put it to you in a simple equation: YOUR LIFE-RUNNING WILD= COMPLETE AND UTTER DISGRACE.
Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight! AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!-- David Newman"

"If I was able to choose 10 albums that I would be buried with. I would choos this album as one of them. I can tell YOU that you won't be disappointed. Running Wild and free for ever."
A good RW album, but a bit out of character.

"Blazon Stone was a slight departure for Running Wild as it contained a few more commercially appealing songs like "Lonewolf" and seemed to drop the overall pirate theme they had going. However, musically it still maintains Rolf's signature style of galloping rhythyms and epic leads mixed with aggressive vocals. This is a good addition to anyone's RW library, but it isn't their best. Try Black Hand Inn or Pile of Skulls if you're looking for better albums to start your collection."
