Synopsis

Album Description
Welcome to the Playlist series. We've fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but...the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are. You'll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file. You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come! Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

"In the roughly two decades between 1973 and 1993 Ronnie Milsap dominated Billboard's Top Country Singles chart by amassing an astonishing total of 38 #1 hits! Over the years his label, RCA, released any number of "Greatest Hits" type packages. Although I have always been a huge fan I was never very happy with any of these collections. Finally, the folks at Legacy recordings have come up with a terrific single disc collection that is just what I have been looking for. "Playlist: The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap" is an outstanding compilation of 14 of Ronnie's biggest and best hit singles that spans virtually his entire career. It is one of just a handful of discs that have been released in 2008 that I can really get excited about!

"Playlist: The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap" features most but not all of my very favorite Ronnie Milsap records. My all-time favorite Milsap tune has to be the haunting 1977 hit "It Was Almost Like A Song" that achieved a certain amount of success on the pop charts as well. That one still sends chills up and down my spine each and every time I hear it. I am also quite partial to "Stranger In My House" from the golden year 1983. Add to that memorable country classics like "Smoky Mountain Rain", "(There's) No Getting' Over Me" and "I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World" and one can readily see why this disc is so doggone enjoyable. Each of these recordings has been lovingly remastered by the folks at Legacy and are the original RCA hits you would remember from the radio. I was also very happy to see that the record company chose to include some tunes from the early part of Ronnie's career like "Pure Love" and "Daydreams About Night Things" that I did not previously own. Likewise I was happy to sample three of his songs from the early `90's including "Houston Solution", "Turn That Radio On" and "All Is Fair In Love and War" that I had never even heard before. Great Stuff!

In the early 1990's I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Ronnie Milsap perform in a rare New England appearance. He appeared in a show with a number of other country artists who were popular at the time and frankly he just stole the show.

Ronnie is an accomplished piano player who just loves old time rock and roll. Had I been putting together this collection I certainly would have included at least one more of his remakes of early rock and roll hits like "Snap Your Fingers" or "Since I Don't Have You" to go along with the stunning 1985 hit "Lost In The Fifties Tonight (In The Still Of The Night)" which was included here. All in all. I am really quite pleased with "Playlist: The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap". The sound quality is superb and this one is offered at a very affordable price. Legacy makes much of the fact that this disc comes in an eco-friendly package that is fashioned from recycled cardboard. The packaging is quite attractive and the back features a remarkable amount of information in a very limited area. In addition, buyers can download more extensive liner notes from the internet. Clearly, this CD ranks as one of my best finds of 2008. Very highly recommended!!!
