CD Reviews

Yes, RON DANTE!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Great music from one of the best singers and producers in the business. Ron's vocals are just as good as they've been since The

Archies days and "Favorites" means just what it says. Many of these re-makes are freshly done and re-arranged to be compatible

with contemporary songs. I think the best example of this is Ron's version of "Give Me Just A Little More Time", originally done

by The Chairmen of The Board. "Our Day Will Come" also has a good, up-to-date beat to it. As a bonus,a remake of The Cuff

Links' "Tracy" (you KNOW who sang it first) is also featured. Grass Roots fans will appreciate Ron's versions of no less than six

of their songs. Best among these is "Temptation Eyes".

An aspect of this album that is most refreshing is the sound. Your speakers will practically shout "Hey! These are REAL

INSTRUMENTS!!!" No phony hand-claps and drum machines here...(Not that technology doesn't have a place in music, it

certainly does. But I think it should be used as an enhancement instead of a replacement for a real instrument. Imitations come

across as 'demos').

Overall, it's a fine album with well-done arrangements and great vocals. Don't worry, there's more to come. Visit Ron Dante's

website for more information about him, new albums available as well as concert information..."
You may not recognize the name- you WILL recognize the voice

"This is a very lively little collection.Ron was the voice of "The Archies" and "The Cufflinks" and "The Detergents" as well as Barry Manilow's producer for many years. The production on this CD is very alive, very crisp and every song is as catchy as the next. This is great "feel good" music.Very theraputic! I highly reccomend this wonderful collection."
Great Sound - Fun Music!

"This was one of those CD's I took a chance on.
I'm a collector of music and I love to find stuff
I've never heard of. Actually, I didn't know that
I 'had' heard of this guy all along. He's the voice
of "The Archies". Go figure! Anyways, I got the CD
without knowing what to expect. These are great songs!
They're all 5th & 6th-hundredth recordings of what could
now be concidered to be contemporary standards -- but they've
got fresh, new arangements and Ron's voice is oustanding! There's no reason why the ranking of this CD here is so low.
People should give this CD a chance - it's great!"
