CD Reviews

I like this a lot, but...

"I was glad to lay my hands on this collection because the Roger Williams recordings I have are scattered over several LPs and they're getting somewhat scratchy. I was glad to have an old favorite of mine like «Near You» included, - but I miss the Merry Widow Waltz on the reverse side of that 45 r.p.m. - Generally speaking, I find it regrettable that Roger Williams' refined artistry is somewhat obscured, and sometimes even drowned out, by the rather soupy and overblown orchestral accompaniments that he has to drag along on many of his recordings. It seems to me that discretely appropriate accompaninments by a small chamber ensemble (string trio, - not 100 strings, - plus percussion, and one each of oboe, flute, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet and horn) would be much more pleasant and restfully inspiring... Roger Williams is still young isn't he?"
Great collection

"I always liked Roger Williams and wanted some cd's of good popular piano music. This collection fills that void very nicely. As Williams is hard to find on cd, I was very happy to get this one. Enjoy."
An album without time!

"Roger Williams has been called Mr. Piano. For all those (I am among included) who grew and grew up in our first childhood steps throughout his easy listening music, still have an eternal debt of infinite gratitude for this charismatic and enthusiast artist, who really immortalized pieces such as Autumn leaves, Strangers in the night, Crying in the chapel, Misty, Till, New York New York, Maria, Evergreen and so many others songs that now belong to legend status.

So if you belong to the new generation (born in the Eighties or Nineties), it would be advisable to get close to this magic universe of this legendary pianist.
