CD Reviews

Pleasantly surprised

(4 out of 5 stars)

"As the years pass, some groups get less and less entertaining, less creative, etc. I don't have high hopes until I hear it. The funky cover of VARIETY gave me hope, however, and rightly so. Very enjoyable release. If you're unfamiliar with LRM, this may be a better way to ease into them than their early work, which is good, too, but very quirky."
Too Little Variety

(3 out of 5 stars)

"As a fan of Les Rita since the late 80's, and a owner of their entire discography, I must say that I really enjoy the quirky, off-beat character of their earlier efforts. To me, its what has set them apart as a creative duo. Now "Variety" offers very little of this quality, as the songs are accessible (perhaps too much so); I found this lack of edgy-soulfulness so apparent in their earlier works, disappointing. I unhappily agree with the 2 previous reviews that this would be a good introduction to novice listeners who may be more comfortable with a more mainstream vibe."
