The funky cover of VARIETY gave me hope, however, and rightly so. Very enjoyable release. If you're unfamiliar with LRM, this may be a better way to ease into them than their early work, which is good, too, but very quirky." To me, its what has set them apart as a creative duo. Now "Variety" offers very little of this quality, as the songs are accessible (perhaps too much so); I found this lack of edgy-soulfulness so apparent in their earlier works, disappointing. I unhappily agree with the 2 previous reviews that this would be a good introduction to novice listeners who may be more comfortable with a more mainstream vibe."
