At first glance, Richard Harris reading of Lebanese-American poet s Kahlil Gibran s bestseller would seem to be among the least likely albums ever to hit the Top 40 (it went to #29 in 1974). But then, considering the talents involved, success was almost inevitable. First of all, the book upon which the album was based, The Prophet sold a staggering four million copies in the early 70s. And Harris himself had taken his spoken-word recording of Richard Bach s Jonathan Livingston Seagull to the charts a year before.
