"Ottorino RESPIGHI (1879-1936) was a student of Giuseppe MARTUCCI (1856-1909). All of the music on this CD is first rate, including the performances. Respighi has always enjoyed popularity on this side of the Atlantic for his tone poems, while Martucci is just coming into his own. There is nothing on this CD that will fail to boost the reputations of both composers. In addition, allow me to recommend the boxed set of Martucci's complete orchestral works."
