CD Reviews

Pappa's Progression
skipper | Houston, TX USA | 04/06/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Pappa continues with his strong progressive sound, forcing his way forward. Pappa's track selection includes music from breeder, humate, narcotik, and hybrid. Pappa keeps this cd moving with Breeder's Angel Dust. Great song with strong powerful beats. Hybrid's Kill City is awesome. Soft and full of vocals yet a powerful and progressive song. This song takes the icing on the cake. In this cd Pappa keeps the energy flowing and continues with his strong momentum, never slacking up. Pappa definitely has a lot of talent and a driving mixing style."
Anthony Pappa's Best, 16b fans rejoice

"First off, both cd's are great. I sort of got tired of the rennie pilgrem quickly, but breakbeat is in my opinion still developing into something I soon won't bore of, I felt the same way about TDR 50, his label's two cd set. If you really dig it, pick this one up. If you like it, but need a little edge, try Adam Freeland tectonics. I honestly think this set is quite a bit similar. Both even conclude with the same beeper track, albeit I like adam's set better. That beings said, DISK ONE with Pappa is one of my favorite mixes EVER, and it starts with the most brilliant 16b track I've heard yet. Believe me when I say that Global Underground has yet to match the momentum on this disk to date. I've followed the label from inception. I bought this album two years ago as an import. It still sits in my visor, standing out among the hundreds of progressive house compilations. It was worth the forty I shelled out, so don't hesitate spending 20.Buy it, and if you really like Anthony's disk, make sure you pick up the latest rennaissance comp. with nick warren and danny howell's. Howell's cd is better than anything he's released in the states and it's the same progressive house you find here. If you liked max grahm's release, this disk is similar, but less monotonous. How many other albums can I plug here? have fun."
