"No reviews? Arr! This is my favourite Ravi Shankar album. The part of Ravi's playing I most enjoy are his deep, moaning glissandos in the bass register, and his Bairagi Todi has about ten minutes of that in the alap - tremendous! Perfect night music, perfect "deep" music. Gaud Sarang has a heavenly alap but seems to go off into "generic Ravi Shankar raga" halfway through, losing the essence of Gaud Sarang. Mishra Gara, though short, has a few passages that move the soul to tears.



If you put together all of the perfect, soul-shattering, tearjerking melody on this disk, it would amount to about ten minutes, in my opinion. And, in my opinion, putting ten minutes of perfect melody onto a disk is more than almost anybody can manage.
