CD Reviews

Excellent!!

"If you're a Ranma ½ fan, you must also be a DoCo fan. If you don't like DoCo, you don't like Ranma ½!! (For the uninitiated, DoCo is a singing group made up of the Japanese voice actresses for Girl-Type Ranma, Akane, Shampoo, Nabiki, & Kasumi. You've seen the videos on the end of Ranma ½ OAV tapes from Viz Video). Favorites include tracks #3 & the last song. If you love Ranma ½, are an otaku like me, or just like great J-Pop (Japanese pop music) from the early 90's, this CD, and it's "companion" DoCo Second, are for YOU!!! I can't reccomend them enough!!!"
DoCo rocks! What more can be said! Wait!I know..

"People, this CD is the perfect collection of songs by a group of my favorite voice actresses. First, there's Inoue Kikuko (Kasumi) with her flowing beautiful vocals. Hidaka Noriko (Akane) has such a great voice as well especially when she sings alone. Sakuma Rei is very cute as Shampoo! Takayama Minama (Nabiki) seems to balance everyone out and add so much to the songs. HAYASHIBARA MEGUMI- I love her voice! She stays in character sooooo well as Ranma-chan. All and all DoCo is the perfect blend of voices! If you love Ranma 1/2 and love the music this CD is OB-SO-LU-T-LY for you. I could not imagine not liking at least five tracks on the CD. This music is perfect to get out of a bad mood or relax! You won't be sorry!"
Catchy Music by the Ranma 1/2 "Girls"!

"Unlike the Opening Themes and Closing Themes CDs, the DOCO 1st CD is sung by the 5 main female characters of the series: the Tendo sisters, Shampoo, and female Ranma, who apparently gets over his disgust at singing karaoke (as expressed in a Tendo Christmas Scramble OVA) to form the DOCO group with the others. You'll either have to know Japanese or search online for the lyrics' translation (and who sings what line) if you really want to know what the girls are singing, but the music is great and you'll find yourself humming along, despite not knowing the words.Skip the musical prologue (Track 1) and get down to the main music: "Bokutachi ga Korekara (Where Do We Go From Here/Us After This)" is one of the themes from the OAV series and is one of my favorites on this CD. "Akai Kutsu no Sunday (Red Shoe Sunday)" is one of the OAV series' closing themes, and this extended version gives Nabiki her own verse, which is not heard on video. "Utsosuki (Liar)" is another of my favorites and the one song I do find myself singing (or trying to sing); its video is one of the bonus tracks found on the Viz Video releases. "A Slightly Hilly Road (sorry, forgot the Japanese title and I'm not near my notes!) is okay, not really well known and probably the one dud on the CD. "Omoide ga Ippai (Full of Memories/So Many Memories)" is DOCO's version of the season 3 opening theme. It's jazzed up and easier to sing along with than the opener, IMHO -- no childlike sopranos! "Kare (Boyfriend)" is a poignant, sweet song. Its video is also a Viz Video bonus, and I can't help but wonder what Ranma must feel, singing about a boyfriend of all things! It's a really nice CD, and if you like it, consider getting the harder-to-find DOCO 2 (featuring the fabulous "Kagayakusora To Kimi No Koe (A Glittering Sky and Your Voice)", or the DOCO Karaoke CD, which allows you to sing the songs yourself."
