CD Reviews

Rain is Michael Bormann and Tore Moren.
Nikiforos V. Skoumas | Athens Greece, Cambridge UK | 07/27/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Rain" is the musical combination of renowned AOR/Hard Rock singer Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart, Redrum) and "Jorn" guitarist Tore Moren. Originally released in 2006, "Stronger" is their second and latest album to date.

Naturally, some would expect this release to sound much like a mixture of the bands mentioned above; that is quite correct, however "Rain" does bring new elements to the table: For one there is increased usage of strings and symphonic instruments. In addition acoustic guitars are extensively included to set a background for their electric counterparts. Finally Bormann is also carrying out bass player duties throughout the album. The overall sound of this release is not the Hard rock approach of "Jaded Heart" or Jorn's heavy metal. This comes closer to the AOR sound of Michael's solo albums.

As with every decent release, there are a couple of standout tracks such as the radio friendly "Get over it" and "Crazy" which brings in mind Van Halen's "Dreams".

If you are a fan of Bormann you need to get a hold of this; If you have followed any of the bands mentioned above you will definitely not be let down by this very interesting band.
