CD Reviews

Best Chopin album i've heard so far

"maybe opinions are different for each intepreter. but for Chopin, i can always say the compositions he created are the most complex and the most beautiful. this album has some small pieces such as preludes and etudes. but the true beauty of this album are the Sonata in B min, and the Piano Concerto.

Blechacz, in my opinion, really raises the bar on how these pieces should be interpreted. his movement on the keys is so subtle and soft, yet it commands the power Chopin created. this album has 3 CD's with many Chopin pieces, and grand pieces, and 1 Debussy piece. you cannot go wrong with this album. if you like classical music in general this album is very good. if you are a big fan of Chopin this album will really open up a new world on how Chopin is played. for this i have become a fan of Blechacz. i recommend this album for all Chopin fans."

"I have listened to the best Chopin recordings offered for the past 40 years. Nothing, not even the Rubenstein interpretations, matches the technical perfection, cultural understanding and subtle interpretations of Rafal Blechacz. It is uncanny how the accumulation of phrases builds a presentation of great depth and profound understanding in this music. There is a freshness that gives the feeling of hearing this great composer for the first time."
