Something to shine about
J. Richards | Dallas, TX USA | 01/04/2004

"Anyone who has seen Radiant* live understands the full effect of their enchanting and empowering music. For those that haven't, this EP can help aquaint you. I went New Year's Eve of 2003 to Trees in Deep Ellum, Dallas, to see both Radiant* and Eisley, and although Eisley was terrific, my friend who came heralding Eisley's talent was blown away by Radiant*'s showmanship. The foursome's ardor put forth in clubs is equally reflected on "The Sound of Splitting Atoms". Opening with the unwaveringly charged "World", it's instantly taken away by Dragan's intense guitar riff, only comparable to reaching up and touching the foothills of the the heavens."If I Had Known" follows, full of passion and reverence, then followed by my personal favorite, both studio-produced and live: the gracefully hopeful "Way You Make Me Feel." Daniel's rhythmic drums and Jon's unfolding bassline team with acoustic chords to make a backbone around which Levi's vocals and Dragan's improvising guitar build. It fuses to form another awesome riff-injected track, after which the three-quarter time "Wondermaker" picks up, clear and reminiscent of an azure sky.The mood slows down upon the opening bars of a splendorously coiling track, "Waltz" - with a fragile refrain of "save us", which is followed then by the preciously plaintive "Sail". And finally, the shimmering "Do Not Delay" skillfully ties all the tracks together and tapers off the disc.I'll confess my sole complaint about "The Sound of Splitting Atoms." It makes it difficult to await Radiant*'s next release."
