R.E.M.'s Biggest Hit
Thomas Magnum | NJ, USA | 05/16/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Losing My Religion" is R.E.M.'s biggest hit, peaking at number 4 in 1991. Despite its high chart status, the song is not your typical top 40 hit. The song is driven by Peter Buck's twangy mandolin and Michael Stipe's introspective lyrics. The song is a true testament to R.E.M.'s ability to reach mass audiences while maintaining their credibility. "Shiny Happy People" was also a top ten hit and while many hardcore R.E.M. fans are dismissive of it, the song has a fun, bouncy quality that shows the band has an ability to cut loose and have some fun."

"In my opinion this is the greatest song ever! I also think that REM is a great band. And i'm only 13. My sugestion is to buy this single... I heard this song over 200 times and i still like it. This song reminds me my sad times and it cheers me up. It's great to hear when you are down. Well this is it... i need to go, so buy this song and remember "Losing My Religion" is the best song you will ever hear... I assure you!"
