These relatively early recordings from 1995 capture the joyful partnership of a great musical friendship that still endures and flourishes today, after more than 20 years. The combination of the California-based Alexander String Quartet and Spanish clarinetist Joan Enric Lluna has been celebrated in concert on dozens of stages on four continents. Recorded in San Francisco nearly 15 years ago, the intimate salon sound here is a rare find, and is wonderfully suited to the intimacy of their soulful, introspective, and contemplative interpretations.
