Brent | Marietta, GA USA | 09/21/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "When you hear this album, you realize that Q led one of the world's finest orchestras in the early '60s. The European attention to all things jazz puts America to shame-- this has great fidelity for a live recording (and a radio broadcast no less) from Switzerland. Soloists in the band at that time include Benny Bailey, Jimmy Cleveland, Phil Woods, Jerome Richardson and Sahib Shihab. The band's book is bebop-inspired, hard swinging charts contributed by Q, Ernie Wilkins, Billy Byers, Melba Liston, Phil Woods and Al Cohn. It's a shame this band couldn't stay together longer, but this gem gives you a good glimpse of their greatness, even if it was short and sweet.
