CD ReviewsPram returns in top form skytwo | Boston | 06/02/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "Fans of Pram are unlikely to suffer disappointment upon hearing 'Dark Island.' It is more low-key than releases of the mid-90's, although there are some tracks that continue with the retro spy sound of Somniloquy's 'Way of the Mongoose'-- they're even similarly titled. There are also plenty of dreamy melodic tracks with haunting lyrics. All in all, 'Dark Island' isn't as quirky or avant garde as their earlier songs, but the tracks here are consistently satisfying. It's good to see that this low-profile group can consistently turn out rewarding music that is true to form without being predictable or dull. A standout release in the group's ten-year history.
