CD Reviews

"Energy, Emotion, Deeper"

"Lead singer Frank Orrall's word's have never been clearer than in their latest offering. SSO is a beautiful set of songs that flows so beautifully through the speakers of my stereo. From the very beginning with 'Rise Up and Walk' which slides into 'That's the Way Love Is' to a new toned down but very jazzy version of Jackass Ginger, this new 'Live' album is definately one to own. For those who love the pre-Natural Thing version of Poi, this will take a little getting used to, But having been at the album release show last night, I can tell you that this is the sound of the present version of PdP. The house was full and everyone was just dancing their booties off. If you love Poi Dog Pondering, this is a must own!"
Pleasantly Surprised.

"I admit, I almost didn't buy this when I heard this was just another live CD. I've been waiting five years (since Pomegranate's release) for some new original material. Why another live CD? But eventually, I got to sample and buy it, and I have to say that as far as live CD's go, this is pretty good. The sound quality is great, and Leddie's percussions sound top notch. But when are they going to release some new material?"
Poi Dog as they're best experienced--live!

"Another excellent live recording from PDP. Recorded at the Vic Theater in Chicago, it captures their energy and comfort with each other as band members. The songs here are newer than those on Liquid White Light (the best PDP disc, in my opinion), and it captures the Poi experience as it is currently on stage. "Rise Up and Walk" is a captivating start to the disc, and it holds you till the last note fades. If you've enjoyed them live, you'll love this. If you haven't seen them yet, after hearing this disc you'll head to their Web site and pray they're playing somewhere soon."
