What do you expect from a remix CD?

"expo 2001 is a compilation of eight p5 remixes that range from house and idm to futuristic lounge and pop music. all the tracks will be recognizable to any pizzicato five fan, but most have had a serious work over. saint etienne's remix of "peace music" is a spooky, intelligent dance cut - definitely more for headphone listening than anything else. telex's "go go dancer" remix has stripped out the melody and put more focus upon the beats - scratches have replaced the words, and it's a bit harsh, to say the least. "flower drum song" and "thank you" highlight the house rhythms that made it great in the first place and add a bit of space synth into the stew - perfect for house djs. "twiggy twiggy" has been redone as a deep trance cut. it's a hard track, but it gets repetitive and "tout va bien" is a brazilian influenced lounge cut, that's musically busy, and only moderately enjoyable. jazz-a-delic's remix of "magic carpet ride" is the champion. it's a laid-back jazz groove with a great bassline and a flute that takes over the melody. as far as remix cds go, expo 2001 is memorable. like the masses of other remix cds though, it has a few select tracks among many that don't compare to the original."
