Bekova Brilliance

"For me, the one thing that makes this recording great is the pace at which they play. It's not too fast nor too slow. Many times I have heard Brahms played at a very slow pace with the reason given is that it "makes the music sound more majestic". Generally what happens is that the music ends up sounding torpid rather than stately or majestic. That is not the case here. The Bekova sisters have a great affinity for Brahms and plays his trios with great feeling at just the right pace. Timing is one of the main factors for my enjoyment in any given classical work, especially Brahms. The sisters get it right."
