Where technically Piers Lane is more aggressive and high strung, Scherbakov's technique is fluid, effortless, and rock-solid. Most pianists would avoid music with such formidable difficulties. Scherbakov tackles each piece with an unmatched technical security. This is Russian piano playing at its best! His tone is full and warm. The charm of each piece is perfectly captured. The rhythm and rubato breath naturally. This cd has been reissued for some reason, so buy it while you can. Nearly everything Scherbakov touches turns to gold! This album is no exception!"
