CD Reviews

From APR's treasure chest

"I daresay this disc is a positive "mixed bag", a well-done blend of old and new recordings by pianists who have been featured earlier on APR releases and by "newcomcers". It is a real pleasure also to learn from the booklet that Cor de Groot's recorded legacy will be in the catalogue again. And Sergio Fiorentino's Rachmaninov-like account of Mendelssohn's "Spinning Song" and above all his incomparable recording of that composer's Etude in B flat cannont be appreciated enough."
A great selection

"This CD contains a fascinating variety of pieces and pianists. I had never heard the "Musical Box" by Deodat de Severac - very amusing. The Alkan Prelude played by Ronald Smith is well worth hearing. I would further recommend his new double CD, also on APR - containing Alkan Chamber Works + some piano pieces.(APR 7032)"
