Synopsis

Album Description
"SO SMOOTH" was Perry Como's first RCA Victor 12" long-play album, recorded and originally released in 1955. This was also Perry's first album recorded at Webster Hall, New York City, and his first album with the Ray Charles Singers who would support him generally throughout the remainder of his recording career. The companion album is Perry's 1957 "We Get Letters" which featured a small section of Mitchell Ayres' Orchestra fondly referred to as "Como's Little Combo" backing Perry in a relaxed atmosphere of jazz-like arrangements. The album "SO SMOOTH" was released in England as "We Get Letters Volume 2" as Perry's popularity gained international appeal during the late 1950s. These were Perry's first two full-featured original 12" albums.

"A quality transfer. For those who missed the Japanese Cd releases this a golden opportunity to hear Como at his very best! Don't assume the other Cd's from Perry on "Collectables" are of the same standard, some are quite poor."
Just what it says "so smooth"

"Another one of my Dad's favorite vinyl LP's he bought in the early 60's that became scratched and almost unplayable. This is a quality CD release and the album speaks for itself as being "SO SMOOTH" and IS the best album by Perry Como. Every person I have had listen to this album, who has all kinds of music tastes, can't believe this is Perry Como. Another one of my FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME."
Two great albums from one of the best crooners

"The ultimate in easy listening. "We Get Letters" is particularly interesting in that Como foregoes the big band backing for a smaller, tighter ensemble. Absolutely wonderful, you can't take this away from me."
