CD ReviewsBest of Pearl Jam's Many Singles slow_education | Chicago, IL | 04/23/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I Am Mine: Of the two songs debuted at the 2001 Bridge Benefit (the second being McCready-penned "Last Soldier"), I consider this one the lesser, but it's still an effective mid-tempo song, solid and radio-friendly.Down: Could be a harbinger of things to come from Pearl Jam: lean, sinewy and rootsy. Bushleaguer: That kid from Denver ("Vedder impaled the mask on the mic stand in some kind of primal ritual") is a goon. This song is stronger live, but still a nice curiosity on record. And come on, how many ancient primal rituals involved the rubber mask of an unelected U.S. president?Undone: Hello Sonic Youth. In the future, if Pearl Jam chooses not to remain with Sony, or even if they do--I hope Vedder and the boys indulge more of these kinds of impulses. Vedder's work with Cat Power also shows what he's capable of in terms of subtlety. Well done, Undone. This ain't the Sweater Song, kids. Irony is dead."
