CD ReviewsA voice that will be around for years to come An Irishman in Florida | U.S.A | 07/22/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was so haunted by the music on this cd for months. In particular the murder ballad "What put the blood"? a song that is a traditional song, she learned from Galway singer, Tony Small and given a very contemporary sound by her partner Donogh Hennessey, ex Lúnasá, that just struck me between the ears and went around and around in my head. Even her own songs are excellent and sound like they could have been written years ago.... That's a huge compliment, because She has such a unique sound, I doubt there are many could come close to her qualities. A real feel for the old songs, and even an unaccompanied version of The Boys of Barr na Sráide, that will knock your sonic socks off. Trust me, this girl is here to stay and her future cds will be just as great." Interesting... welshnymph | 11/03/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "An interesting debut from County Kerry's Pauline Scanlon. I especially liked her mix of keyboards, programming, tradition, and some of her own lyrics. If you like a unique voice (think a little of 10,000 Maniac's female lead, but Irish), good and unusual (yet familiar) music, then give this one a go."
