"This has a little bit for everyone, but be warned if you are looking for the Parliament you think you know. This is basically 'Osmium' with a few extra tracks which was rereleased as 'Rhenium' in 1990 with almost everyting on this disc. It has some great early funk, but it also has a lot of country soul music. It also has slow songs that, believe it or not, could have ended up on some outtake for Jesus Christ Superstar. Given the time and the place, its an amazing collection of songs with great muscianship and extremely varied influences. The only real stinker is 'Put love in your life' which probably sounded dated and silly the moment it was recorded back in 1970."
I WOULD BUY THIS IF I WAS YOU

"This album is by no means a classic in the sense of most albums. Hell, there are even P-Funk albums that ARE classics, I would still own this one first. FIRST THANGS, there are so many underground gems on this peice it's insane.

This is one of those CD's I've owned for years and have always felt that it was my secret album. I stole it from a used bin back in my rebellious years.

Just listen to the first track, its straight up rock and roll. I'm talking loud, dirty electric guitar. This is different P-Funk. A lot of it is unpolished garage tapes from what must be the first P-Funk line up. George Clinton is highly evident though in tracks like CALL MY BABY PUSSYCAT and LITTLE OLD COUNTRY BOY. If you ever listened to NWA you may recognize MY AUTOMOBILE all though this version is a somewhat more conservative version (instead of talking about forcing groupies to give them head, we here about the desire to innocently kick her out of his car, near the woods, if she don't give him a kiss.) Anyway you have to go through it yourself, there are way more nuggets than that.

PARLIAMENT is good party stuff, if you use recreational marijuana you probably already know this. If you like music that keeps its integrity and makes the girls shake their can at the same time, then make your funk the P-Funk garage style; FIRST THANGS."
