"Amazing. Certainly one of the best albums of last year. Each song is delicate and extremely well crafted, as all of American Football's songs were, but this time, the acoustic takes the foreground. Layered guitars and hauntingly beautiful vocals make this a heart breaking look at lost loves and past relationships. And it's only one person - Mike Kinsella. If I had to choose, I'd say my favorite song is "Ghost of What Should've Been"- it's so warm and yet tragic at the same time: "What else in this room reminds me of the relationship I've ruined? The tables I made- strong enough to hold your magazines, not your tired legs." You don't hear those kind of lyrics on mainstream radio. Though "No Good For No One Now" is only seven songs and I wish it were longer, each is so intricate, accessible, and brilliant that I didn't mind it. Especially not enough to deny this album the credit it's due. In fact, I own several albums that clock in under 23 minutes, but none of which comes close to the desperate, penetrating, and powerful words of Owen. For those who haven't heard of this band, Owen isn't whiny as some would say and Mike Kinsella definitely isn't a sell out like some other people I know (cough...Chris Carrabba....cough). But, If you liked American Football and want to pick up where they left off, this is a great album to start with."
This is the best CD I bought in 2003!

"If you like the emo mixed with the folk mixed with the electronics mixed with a twist of Kinsella, this is the disc. The lyrics are strong and the songs kept me quessing. I even teared up a few times. I love this album."
Utter sincerity
