CD Reviews

One of the best Christmas CD's on the planet!!!
couchbum | California USA | 12/12/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A wonderful Christmas CD this is. 18 of the 20 songs from their 1976 vinyl album. The USA CD version which came out in 1991 only had 12 of the 20 songs. This import 2001, is missing 2 songs, but if you have the US version of the CD then you will have "The Christmas Waltz" song, which is not on this import CD. Now we need one more song "A Very Merry Christmas". I suppose in 2011 we may get a CD with all 20 songs. But, enjoy this CD it is great. It has the only 3 songs that the Osmonds (A, W, M) wrote on the vinyl album. The 3 songs are "Sleigh Ride" an upbeat song (my favorite), "An Old Fashioned Christmas" sung by Donny-I know Donny's voice, even though the CD says the Osmonds sing it, and "It Never Snows In L.A." one of little Jimmy's best. The CD doesn't give credit to the writers of the songs, but if you have the old vinyl album you will see which songs the Osmonds wrote. You will not be disappointed. You will treasure it for the memories it brings back. GO, GO, GO, GO, OSMONDS!!!!!"
So beautiful I cried
S. Hill | Commerce, GA USA | 12/17/2003

"I serendipitously stumbled across this British import version of the CD with the Caroling Medley, which is missing from the US version. This was one of my favorite Christmas albums when I was younger. When I put it in my CD player, of course I had to start with the Caroling Medley, with its distinctive acapella harmonies. It was so beautiful, exactly as I remembered, that I cried. How moving for me to have this part of my happy Christmas memories made fresh, and how wonderful that I can now share it with my daughter and my own family. It's beautiful.Oh, and for the other stuff: sound is clear and sharp. Graphics are mostly nonexistent, text is small and hard to read, but it's the sound that matters, and that's Osmond-perfect as always. Now if they'll only release a version with ALL of the songs...."
A Holiday Classic almost complete
J. Warren | Pittsburgh, PA USA | 11/11/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"With the exception of only two songs missing, the Osmond Christmas Album has finally been done the right way. I just received the CD in the mail today, and it was great to relive some of my favorite childhood holiday memories. The artwork on the CD cover, Tray Card and inside cover match the original artwork of the original Christmas Album. The 1991 US release did not do this classic justice. One other note that is worth mentioning, I was happy to hear the ORIGINAL VERISON of Kay Thompson's Jingle Bells without Marie singing as released in 1991. The oringinal was only the Osmond Brothers singing, and is the version on this release. I highly recommend paying the extra for this version over the 1991 US release!"
