CD Reviews

Not bad...
Douglas Kallies | Oconto , WI United States | 12/13/2001
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Ok. Long-time Nylons fan here. First off, the group has never been as good as it was when Paul Cooper was a member. That coupled with the untimely death of Marc Connors has caused me to approach their newer albums with a degree of trepidation. I most definitely did not like the albums that were not acapella. (Because and Harmony.) The fact that this is a Nylons Christmas album that is indeed acapella, scored points with me. While some of the songs are for the most part traditional arrangements, this is ok. Christmas songs should sound a certain way in my opinion. All in all, it's a nice addition to either a Christmas collection or an acapella collection. I certainly enjoyed it."
A Must Have

"Whoever wrote that first review of this album is a biased Rockapella fan. The two groups have had a fan rivalry for years. The Nylons are true legends and nobody does it better. This album marks the addition of Broadway actor/dancer Mark Cassius and the originals he has penned including "A Letter To Santa" and "Hold On To The Feeling" are deep, rich and thoughtfully rendered as is this entire disc. Be looking for a new Nylons CD called Play On later this fall. This CD also features vocal percussion for the first time by Wes Carrol with the Nylons. It's quite something and is a considerably good album. The arrangements are different and the songs are quite catchy. I for one didn't care much for Rockapella's CD asthir lead singer has diction problems and it's hard to make out the words. That said it's still good but this Cd is also exceptional. Buy both."
